Memorial University economist Wade Locke - one of the province’s leading experts on offshore revenue deals did some number crunching and has concluded that Newfoundland and Labrador would receive $5.6 billion more than what they would receive under the Atlantic Accord if they accept the new equalization formula.

Look at the numbers on the graph. They’re from stats-can so I doubt any tories had anything to do with it.

I don’t want to call you stupid, but maybe you’re blind. Newfoundland and Labrador is living off the work of other people and getting more than their fair share. Think about it. Why does anyone deserve anything? Its not a right, so be grateful.

How much more federal spending on goods and services goes to Ontario and Quebec than the other provinces? It really is annoying to hear Ontario people complain about Equalization, or about Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan complaining about Harper’s lying on equalization reform.

Good comeback Bert. The cons can’t justify things to idiots because their equalization reform is unjustifiable, and being as they, and you, are idiots, they really aren’t capable of justifying it even if were justifiable.

Yes indeed it does include purchases of services and goods including from Alberta.

Look buddy. I’m not particularly on the Cons side on this one. As I said before, we should not have any transfer payments. So a big STFU to the Cons, Libs and NDP.

Interesting to see you Cons try and justify the Harpy equalization scam - which is as bad as the Liebral equalization scam - and lies.

Does that chart showing how little Ontario (and Quebec) receive include the billions in federal government purchases of goods and services from Quebec and Ontario?

Nice to see you here Griff.

Actually Griff from his power point assessment, Wade Locke seems to show that the 50% option turns out to be the best one, even though the 0% option seems more attractive.

While I think the Feds have done damage in all provinces in regards to meddling and inaction, ie: fisheries in BC, Forestry in BC etc. everyone has a beef. Just hang out in AB for a bit. I have spent time in every part of Canada and heard it all.

BUT As can be seen from my mining of the Stats Can data, the truth is in the pudding. NL has done extremely well overall from federal transfers.

So the whining should stop and the minds should open. (Not saying yours is closed)

If NL is your province its high time you folks held Danny to the flame of accountability instead of playing this diversion game. He’s a frigging screw-up.

Also maybe its time people remembered the tea-bagging they have had from the Feds and supported Harper in his apparent attempt to decentralized remove redundancy.

My wife hates taxes of any kind btw. Probably more than me. I am somewhat frivilous with my cash. She’ll fight over a quarter.

Actually, Wade Locke’s assessment shows that, while Newfoundland and Labrador will do better under the new equalization plan, had the original ‘promise’ been kept, we would be Five billion dollars better off. That, my friend, is quite a lot of moolah. Hence the fuss over what is seen to be a broken promise - and indeed, according to what PMSH has committed to in the past, it is. I am no ferverent Newfoundland nationalist, and I don’t believe that the Sun Shines out of Danny Williams, unlike many other Newfoundlanders. However I see both sides of this issue - the failure of the NL provincial government to effectively cut costs and stimulate business investment in oil concerns, as well as the broken promises and overbearing attitudes the Fed’s have towards this province since we joined confederation in 1949. I am sure your wife has kept you informed as to both.
